About Kalvin Apartments at Kalvin Square in BudapestLocationWe opened Kalvin Apartments in Budapest in 2004. The studio apartments are located in the city centre of Budapest at Kalvin Square close to River Danube, in a multi-flat house on the corner of the road leading to the Ferihegy - BUDapest international airport. Main tourist sights of Budapest are within reach (the National Museum and Museum of Applied Arts are just a few metres away) by the nearby public transportation facilities (Metro Line 3, trams #47 and #49, bus #9, #15 and #112 or trolley bus #83). Vaci Street (the traditional pedestrian zone of Budapest) is just a few minutes walk away. The Gellert Bath is 2 tram stops away. The neighbouring area (as many other places in Budapest) is famous for its cafés, shops and restaurants (Raday Street). From 1st July, 2007 you can use the new Google map. It shows you the ways you can come to Budapest downtown to Kalvin Apartments on foot, in car or by public transportation from the airport (Budapest, Ferihegy) or railway station (Keleti pu.). Also lists some useful shops and stations in the neighbourhood. Worth to study! It is a great help in navigation. Get the direction to us: use the fantastic easy-to-use application. How can I lower the rates with you?NIGHTS 5+ offer If you stay 5-13 nights in one of our apartments we lower the price by 10% from the first night. NIGHTS 14+ offer If you stay 14 or more nights in one of our apartments we lower the price by minimum 20% (individual pricing applicable) from the first night. AGE 50+ offer If you are senior aged of 50+ we would like to express our high appreciation for choosing our apartment and offer 5% cut on your room rate. EARLY BOOKING+ offer If you plan and take care of your travel and lodging well in advance we take care of the economic rental fee. If we confirm your reservation at least 60 days prior to the arrival day we cut 5% of your bill. DENT+ offer If you spend your time in Budapest with undertaking a dental treatment we offer 5% room-rate reduction. CORPORATE+ offer If your company hires experts from abroad and you need to find accommodation for them contact us. In our central 1-room serviced (no meals) apartments we provide the ADSL internet access point. Make frequent reservations and according to the cumulated number of nights within a year we give you 20-40% cut on price. (This offer cannot be taken with other price cuts.) Only persons over 18 can rent an apartment (an adult must sleep in the apartment; children under 18 cannot be without parental supervision). «back to FAQs index» Are you in the city centre?Centrally located apartments thus you can reach all the famous places (Parliament - 5 stops by bus 15, National Museum, Váci Street, Central Market and River Danube - 5 minutes on foot, Gellért Hotel & Bath - 2 stops by tram 47 etc.) in Budapest in 15 minutes even on foot. The closest metro station is at Kalvin Square in 150 metres. «back to FAQs index» Is it self-catering or serviced accommodation?Self-catering apartment as we do not serve any kind of meals but you will find a well-equipped kitchen(ette) in your studio. We clean your apartment frequently if you stay longer than 5 days (final cleaning also included). Our colleague on duty will help you with most issues everyday (a couple of hours mostly daytime). We help you to operate the washing machine and your clothes will dry under your inspection in your studio apartment. So we would say we offer semi-serviced accommodation as we do not have staff on scene non-stop. «back to FAQs index» Is it a hotel or a multi-flat house?A multi-flat house where you can experience the real life in Budapest. And also you are supposed to live the local life and keep the order of the house. The building itself is an old one built in the 1920s. You will have a really strong impression when you enter the gateway from the street and you can get in touch with the past 80 years of Hungary. «back to FAQs index» What public transport facilities can I take in Budapest to your apartment?Metro, bus, tram, trolley bus. If you travel by the following vehicles you can be sure that you find a stop (Kalvin Square) very close to our apartment. Metro 3, tram 47, 49, bus 9, 15 and trolley bus 83 - and with a 5 minute short walk from tram 4, 6 and 2 (by River Danube). «back to FAQs index» Do you organize airport pick-up to the apartment?The extra service of pick-up would make the transfer cost higher for you so we recommend the public transportation: take 200 bus (to/from all terminals at BUD Ferihegy airport) or 93 bus (to/from Terminal 1) to the final stop where you can change to the metro for 8 stops; it costs you 1,9 EUR and takes no more than 80 minutes. At Ferihegy Terminal 1 you can take a train too (300 HUF to Nyugati pu. railway station in the centre). The train runs in 10-50 minutes. From Nyugat pu. you can travel on Metro Line 3. If you prefer comfort you can have a taxi: you will be in the city in 30 minutes or shorter for 19 EUR (Zona Taxi charge fixed price of 4100 HUF for max. 4 persons). Or you can choose the airport shuttle for ca. 10 EUR/person but sometimes you will stand in a long queue at their desk to reserve seats. «back to FAQs index» How can I use my portable computer in the room?In all rooms we provide wireless and in some rooms wired internet (ADSL) connection to your own notebook. You are responsible for all the settings to make your device adapted to our local area network (firewall settings, other security settings, wireless-B or wireless-G adapter installed etc.). We are giving you the IP address and DNS numbers if needed but usually the automatic settings can be maintained on most computers. You can use our internet service at your own risk as we do not take the responsibility for any data loss or damage. The internet usage is not limited in time and free of charge. If you generate strong traffic that takes up the capacity of our network we can restrict your access to it - in the interest of our other guests - (usual activity such as e-mail sending/receiving and browsing are allowed and extreme file down/upload may be restricted). We do not take the responsibility for the internet service temporarily unavailable; we report the error to the internet service provider. We can provide LAN-cable or USB wireless adapter (for the latter deposit must be paid). «back to FAQs index» What sort of payments do you accept?Cash Individual travellers can pay in cash upon arrival as we do not have a non-stop reception service. Other means of payment (cheques, credit cards, vouchers etc.) are not accepted. Bank transfer Corporate travellers can accomplish their payment via bank: deposit pre-payment and additional/final payments as well. Pre-payments You can pay the total price in advance if you would like to avoid keeping a lot of cash with you (www.PayPal.com, wired bank transfer or Western Union). «back to FAQs index» How can I secure my apartment reservation with you?We never ask you share credit/debit card data so, please, do not send any sensitive data in e-mail. After you sent the reservation form to us and received our response in a couple of hours that we can accept your reservation we send you all the necessary information you may need to finalize your booking. «back to FAQs index» Do you accept group reservations?We recommend our studio apartments for couples as our capacity is pretty low since we run just a couple of self-catering studio apartments and this kind of accommodation is not preferred by groups because we do not have club rooms or a large lounge to come together. We do not offer any in-house social programmes but the privacy and cosiness of the newly furnished studio apartments in an old-fashioned house. «back to FAQs index» Check-in, check-out times?Usual check-in time after 2 p.m. and check-out before 11 a.m. (if the room is available earlier and/or longer than above times it can be modified to meet your needs but must be agreed on in advance). «back to FAQs index» Can I stay with my pets?Unfortunately not. The size of the studios does not allow pet-keeping. «back to FAQs index» I can't have a response from you. What happend?It can have several reasons. If we receive your e-mail or reservation request form we respond within 1-6 hours. So there can be 2 main areas of faults. First your mail or form have never been delivered to us, please, repeat the process using any of our 3 e-mail addresses (always begin with kalvinapartments@ and follow with the name of any of your preferred services as t-online.hu or hotmail.com or gmail.com) and write all the information important to your reservation. Second reason can be that our response has not reached you. Please, check your spam or junk mail folder or bulk mails in your mail box because our response sometimes filtered as spam however it is not (we use a standard format answering your request). It was very nicely decorated with plants, curtains and nice bed linens. The red geraniums planted in the flower box outside the bedroom window were a nice touch! The beds were very comfortable with nice bedside tables equipped with reading lamps. And if you feel a bit cold at night, there was a new heater so you could adjust the temperature to your liking. The kitchen was very well equipped with a kitchen table and chairs, a 6 person place setting of dishes and glassware along with new, modern appliances including a microwave, refrigerator, 2 burner store, hot water kettle and toaster. There were 2 very spacious mirrored closets to hang your clothes. There was also a desk/dresser that held a brand new color TV that was placed on a rotating base so you could watch TV from almost any angle in the apartment! And it even had news channels in English, another very nice touch! The bathroom was nicely equipped with a big sink, toilet, towel warmer and a glass shower that even had non-slip fish attached to the shower floor to prevent falls. The Kalvin Apartments were immaculately clean and very comfortable! We especially appreciated the little details, the flowers in the window box, the non-slip fish decals in the shower, the sewing kit in the closet. Zsolt was a great host, he met with us and gave us the keys, gave us a city map and even called to arrange for the airport shuttle to arrive to take us to the airport. We highly recommend staying in the Kalvin Apartments, it is centrally located in the city center and an excellent value for the money!
